Eimear Murphy is a visual and tactile artist. She creates sculpture with both visual and touch based access.
Graduating from The National College of Art and Design N.C.A.D. in 2015 in the History of Art & Fine Art Murphy was then awarded Fire Station Artists' Studios Sculpture Workshop, Graduate Residency. It was there she completed a landmark sculptural commission for Dublin Port Company. 'Drop' (2017) is a five-tonne concrete curve provoking a tactile response from the audience due to the variety of textures which concrete provides. 'Drop' is on permanent display in the Maritime Sculpture Garden, Dublin Port.
Eimear Murphy is a recipient of the Arts Council of Ireland's Next Generation Artists Award 2018. With this achievement Murphy is currently developing new and experimental work in her studio. As part of this award she completed a residency in the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in March 2019.
In 2018 Murphy's first solo exhibition 'SHAPE HEAP thing', was awarded by and held in Droichead Arts Centre, Drogheda.
Selected group exhibitions include: Industry (2018), Solstice Arts Centre, Navan, LACUNA (2017) Taylor Galleries, Dublin, Veins (2016) Molesworth Gallery, Dublin. In Search of Place (2015) Basement Gallery, Dundalk.
